En 1944, après la conférence de Brazzaville, Félix Eboué est littéralement exténué. Il part en vacances en Egypte et décède le 17 mai. La mort de l'un des premiers compagnons de la Libération est un événement. Cinq ans après, la dépouille de Félix Eboué entre au Panthéon, mais peu à peu la mémoire de cet homme singulier au courage extraordinaire s'estompe.
