Did you know that one of the very last things that Jesus prayed for before His death was unity? (John 17:20-23) Specifically, unity among His people, Christians, and the Church. In this chapter of Romans Paul is addressing issues that have arisen within the early church that could have led to much bigger problems. His words help us all today be able to work through the differences of opinion that can arise between people of faith. And Paul reminds of us of what is truly important.

Now he transitions to the role of Government in this world and how followers of Jesus should interact with those in authority. Paul talks about submission but not in a negative way. The ideas of submission and authority are very important throughout scripture. And it all begins with you and I submitting to God as Lord of our lives.
