Jorge Jardim está a negociar um plano para a independência de Moçambique, mas não informa o governo português. E sente que o regime está na iminência de cair. No dia 25 de abril de 1974 é avisado por um telefonema de João Maria Tudela de que a revolução está na rua. Começa por encarar a mudança de regime como uma oportunidade, mas depressa percebe que o novo poder revolucionário não vê com bons olhos todo o poder que Jardim acumulou durante anos. É alvo de um mandado de captura e decide refugiar-se numa embaixada em Lisboa. Até ao dia em que, sem ninguém se aperceber de nada, desaparece sem deixar rasto.
