About this listen

It’s May 10, 2020, Mother’s Day, in Salida, Colorado, a picturesque mountain town nestled in the Rockies. The air is crisp, the scenery breathtaking, with snow-capped peaks and winding rivers drawing tourists and outdoor enthusiasts alike. In this tight-knit community of about 5,000 people, Suzanne Morphew was a familiar face. At 49 years old, she was a vibrant, athletic woman—a devoted mother, a cancer survivor, and someone who seemed to have it all. She and her husband, Barry Morphew, had been married for over 25 years, raising two daughters, Mallory and Macy. They lived in a beautiful home in the upscale Maysville area, surrounded by pine forests and rugged trails. To outsiders, the Morphews looked like the perfect family. But as we’ve learned time and again, appearances can be deceiving.
