About this listen
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. -Matthew 11:28
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. -Matthew 11:29
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. -Matthew 11:30
DEVOTION
Based on Matthew 11
Jesus extends the most personal invitation in Scripture—not to the qualified but to the weary. 'Labour and heavy laden' describes every soul carrying life's weight. The promise isn't removal of burdens but rest while bearing them. This isn't the rest of inactivity but of intimacy—finding strength in His presence. He who spoke worlds into existence whispers peace to tired hearts.
A.C.T.S. REFLECTION
ADORATION: Lord Jesus, You are the rest-giver, the burden-bearer, the soul's true home. Your invitation excludes no one. I worship You, compassionate Savior.
CONFESSION: I confess I often try to carry my burdens alone, too proud to come.
THANKSGIVING: Thank You for Your open invitation and promised rest.
SUPPLICATION: Help me lay down my heavy loads at Your feet today.
PRAYER
I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.
PSALM 69:30
Dear Lord, sometimes the worries and burdens of life keep me from truly resting in You. I feel like I’m treading water and losing strength. I am weary, Lord, and cry out to You for rest. Meet me in my weakness, gracious God. Come to me in the night and restore rest to my reeling soul. Answer me tonight as I seek to sleep. When I am in pain, comfort me. When I am anxious, give me peace. Let the hush of heaven envelop me like a warm blanket. I know You will be faithful to me. You have repeatedly proven that You can be relied upon to restore, renew, and refresh. I will wait for You and close my eyes. I will breathe in with trust, and exhale a song of praise to You. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen. 🙏🏾
