About this listen

This is episode 76 of The Truth Tank.

This is the 5th Weekly Tank: I will be reviewing Sinners, directed by Ryan Coogler and starring Michael B. Jordan as twin brothers Smoke and Stack Moore. The film also features newcomer Miles Caton, Jack O’Connell, Delroy Lindo and Hailee Steinfeld to name a few.

Set in 1932 Mississippi, the film follows the Moore twins as they return home to open a juke joint but end up having to face supernatural forces that threaten their new business.

Sinners has a unique take on the Vampire/Horror genres while exploring the racial tensions of the 1930s, Deep South superstitions, love and the power of music. We’ll also dive into the lived-in and real world of Sinners, its use of folklore and metaphor, the costume design and the potential for future spin offs.
