About this listen
Episode 16 takes a light hearted approach with Bonkers stories of animals big and small. Monkey Island is a lush tropical habitat off the coast of South Carolina where more than 1400 animals reside. It is not open to the public but plenty of people take their boats out to try to catch a glimpse of the monkeys in the trees. But what are they doing there?
Ken Allen, or the 'Hairy Houdini', is a 250 pound orangutan who has a long history of escaping from his enclosure. Tune in to catch all the techniques and tricks Ken used to get out - just to roam around and interact with people and animals alike. Never a threat - unless you were named Otis, a lifelong rival.
Cher Ami is a World War 1 soldier with an amazing story of bravery and perseverance. What is important to know is that Cher Ami was a common pigeon with a not-so-common story of heroism that is honored at the Smithsonian for saving many men through injury and turmoil.
Finally, Cyril, or slippery, the sea lion takes us on an adventure of international proportions. From California to Canada to......Sandusky Ohio.
