Mike Atkinson, better known as “Outback Mike,” is a 47‑year‑old Australian adventurer, survival instructor, filmmaker and former military pilot. After two decades in the ADF flying helicopters, jets and teaching survival skills – including for NORFORCE in remote northern Australia – Mike turned his focus to documenting wild expeditions He starred as a fan‑favourite runner‑up on Alone Australia Season 1, lasting 64 days in Tasmania’s wilderness. He has built and sailed a dugout canoe 1,500 km up the Great Barrier Reef and produced award‑winning films like Surviving the Outback. He is married with two children and the author of Modern‑Day Castaway.
