「分水嶺」という言葉はあの村上春樹が好んで使う、いわゆる「春樹語録」の一つです。本来は山に降った雨水が集まって異なる方向に流れていき、それぞれの水脈を形成していく分岐点を指します。分水嶺は通常、山奥にあって見ることはなかなか出来ないのですが、白川郷からさほど遠くない場所に、片方は伊勢湾に流れて太平洋へ、そして、もう片方は富山湾に流れて日本海へ、という分水嶺が存在するのです！
