日本で一番最初に灯台が建造されたのは東京のお台場。明治三年、1870年のことでした。お台場というのは元々ペリー来航に伴い、江戸を守るための砲台を設置する場所として徳川幕府によって造られたものでした。灯台は明治村に移築されましたが、お台場には今当時を偲ばせるものがまだ幾つか残っています・・・。
