日本の市町村のいくつかでは、子供が産まれると母子手帳と共に親子で読むための絵本が贈られてきます。この試みは『ブックスタート』と呼ばれており、元々は1992年にイギリスのバーミンガム大学が始めたもの。名護市でもこのブックスタートが行われていますが、名護で配られているのは、江戸時代に名護にいた人物で、中国に留学してその後全国の寺子屋でも教えられる事になる『六諭衍義』という本を日本に紹介した程順則という人の伝記なのです。
