About this listen
Jane testified that what began as a romantic relationship with "cute nicknames" and "long walks on the beach" drastically changed in 2021, when their time together became dominated by drug-fueled sex parties Combs called "freak-offs" or "hotel nights." She told the jury these encounters left her with back pain and frequent urinary tract infections.
The witness also revealed that despite the ongoing trial, Combs still pays her rent. Text messages between Jane and Combs were presented to the jury, showing arguments between the pair.
The trial has grown tense, with Judge Subramanian threatening to remove Combs from the courtroom after he was observed "nodding vigorously and looking at the jury" during testimony. "That is absolutely unacceptable," the judge stated.
Combs, 55, faces serious charges including sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy. Prosecutors allege he was the ringleader of an enterprise that "abused, threatened and coerced women" into prolonged sexual encounters with male prostitutes. If convicted, he could face life imprisonment.
The trial has severely impacted Combs' business empire, estimated to be worth around $1 billion before his legal troubles. His ventures include Bad Boy Records, the Sean John clothing line, investments in Ciroc Vodka, and Revolt Media. Combs had been known for pioneering the path for hip-hop entrepreneurs, being among the first to successfully branch into fashion, beverages, and media.
This is the third alleged victim to testify in the trial, which began with jury selection on May 5. Combs has pleaded not guilty to all charges, with his lawyer Marc Agnifilo arguing that while the relationships sometimes involved domestic violence, all sexual encounters were consensual and not part of a trafficking operation.
