Se celebra el 23 de abril para conmemorar el fallecimiento de grandes escritores como Miguel de Cervantes, William Shakespeare y el Inca Garcilaso de la Vega.También es conocido como : - Día Internacional del Libro, que promueve la lectura y la diversidad cultural o - Día del Libro, que fomenta el amor por los libros y la protección de los derechos de autor.Es interesante saber que el origen de esta celebración se remonta a 1923 en Cataluña, España, donde se regalaban rosas y libros el 23 de abril, coincidiendo con la festividad de San Jorge. En 1995, la UNESCO proclamó esta fecha como el Día Mundial del Libro y del Derecho de Autor
