About this listen
PATRONISING PLATITUDES
The world is drowning in patronising platitudes — it’s the go-to in societies too busy or too shallow to care, or too terrified to think for themselves and dive deep.
Whether it’s friends & family or self-empowerment, self-help, self-development, psychology, resilience training, or spiritual teachings — there’s an undercurrent that’s damaging and dangerous.
Some of the worst offenders seem insipid — even inspiring — but they hide very murky morals.
What lies beneath the ‘sentiments’ themselves is the suggestion that somehow you’re at fault for either creating the issue, or not viewing it the right way.
This is inappropriate & reductive - & in this podcast I discuss why.
