Henk Gerritsen leefde voor de duivensport. Maar het werd uiteindelijk zijn dood. Op maandagavond 30 maart 1998 werd de duivenmelker uit Wenum Wiesel bij Apeldoorn dood gevonden in zijn slaapkamer, met drie kogels in zijn borst. De zaak werd nooit opgelost. Caspar van Oirschot en Berendien Tetelepta duiken in de nooit opgeloste moordzaak én in de duivenwereld, en ontdekken al snel dat het geen omgeving is met uitsluitend lieve opa's die bij het duivenhok wachten op hun terugkerende vogel. Het is er één van grote sommen geld, fraude en criminaliteit.
