Lejeune is a load in the trenches who is always making plays. If he can get the right development on the next level, the sky is going to be the limit for this kid. He lines up on the edge a lot for his team, but we are thinking that Lejeune is going to be more of an interior three-technique player on the next level. Basketball is 30 days from tipoff of Chris Jans' fourth season at State, while Bulldog baseball is scrimmaging all-out in fall ball.

New Diamond Dog Coach Brian O'Connor put his first Mississippi State roster on Dudy Noble Field today as fall practices began in earnest. The roster is set at 34 though All-American Ace Reese will miss the team work as he recuperates from toe surgery this month. O'Connor has opened up a good chunk of the team's scrimmages with special weekend formats, as well as the October 18 exhibition game with Florida State in Pensacola. Fall ball concludes November 1 with Louisiana Tech coming to campus for another exhibition game.

A home field upset of Arizona State has Mississippi State proving progress in year-two with Jeff Lebby. The Bulldogs beat the Sun Devils with a game-saving goal line stand and game-winning touchdown throw in the final minute. The post-win celebration will cost the athletic department a cool half-million dollars per the SEC fine for field storming, but emotionally it is worth it after years of struggles. Now on to Alcorn State as for the first time Lebby has to bring a team down from a big win and build them up in a new week.

#10/12 Arizona State is the first ranked non-conference opponent to visit Scott Field since 2009 as Mississippi State opens the home portion of this schedule. The Bulldogs have some health questions on the offensive line while facing a veteran Sun Devil dense. But it is Arizona State's ground game which will test Mississippi State's defense to the fullest. The facelifted Davis Wade Stadium re-opens for business with 6:35 kickoff.
