De Bijbel zegt ons ook, “Zo dan, ik zelf dien wel met het gemoed de wet Gods, maar met het vlees de wet der zonde.” En dit zijn de wetten die ons domineren. Ons hart is gemaakt om God lief te hebben en om de waarheid lief te hebben, maar het is niet maar dan normaal dat het vlees de wet van de zonde dient. Het Woord van God verteld ons dat het hart het evangelie en Zijn gerechtigheid dient, terwijl het vlees alleen de zonde dient.
