Nos tempos da Igreja Primitiva, as igrejas da Galácia estavam enfrentando muitos problemas. Havia alguns mestres nessas igrejas que estavam causando uma grande confusão. Com a intenção de judaizar as igrejas da Galácia, essas pessoas estavam propagando entre santos um evangelho completamente falso, declarando que eles fariam parte do povo de Deus apenas se fossem circuncidados. Por causa disso, muitos nas igrejas da Galácia que eram espiritualmente imaturos passaram a crer e a seguir estes falsos ensinamentos, e os efeitos contagiosos destes ensinamentos foram tão grandes que se tornaram uma terrível ameaça à Igreja.
