About this listen

I chat to interesting extra-ordinary people who I meet on my travels.
After lockdown, I set about on a nomadic life and it has given me such unexpected gifts. Random moments with people can unravel the best life stories and I want to share them with the world.
Before the internet, people travelled, sang, lived and so many unusual things happened that fascinate me. Life was different before every move was tracked but I believe some stories need to be documented before they are gone forever.
Take a listen and follow me as I uncover more hidden gems.Copyright 2014 Cathie Rooyen. All rights reserved.

  • John Whyte- a simple man from Paisley
    Aug 4 2025
I love hearing stories about the past, especially from the people who lived in them. John Whyte is a gentleman from an aging generation and his story from leaving school at an early age, to life in Paisley is fascinating. Unions, marriage and fatherhood, walking all the glend and dales in Scotland and his later job as a postman all add up to remarkable life. I was lucky to be able to chat with him while on a visit in the summer of 2024.

  • Erik from eVoid
    Mar 7 2025
In 2024, I had the honour of interviewing Erik Windrich, from the South African band, eVoid. He lives in London, England and we met in a local park. It felt like I was meeting an old friend, but who was my pop idol. We chatted about life, with airplanes overhead, kids passing by and birds chirping their summer song. Listen into our chat and keep dreaming your dreams, because they do come true!
