About this listen
This week on World To The Wise, Danny is joined by curator Valentina Tong to discuss the fine line that separates art and politics. Valentina, who at the time of recording was operating at the Instituto Moreira Salles in Brazil, has been part of the team working on the display showcasing the life’s work of legendary photographer Claudia Andujar who has been fighting for the rights of the Yanomami people for nearly half a century. Valentina discusses the influence of the Holocaust on Andujar’s activism, the plight of the indigenous tribes in Brazil (especially during the Covid-19 pandemic) and reveals whether she thinks populist President Jair Bolsonaro is likely to come to the exhibition when it returns...
