  • Southern California Weather 3/9 Morning - 50° Above Normal
    Mar 9 2026
Good morning. Southern California. I'm Michael Mosby. Yesterday felt like summer crashed the party early. Today? The coast just hit the reset button. A coastal eddy spinning offshore flipped our winds and dragged cooler air back into the region. Think of it as nature's air conditioner kicking on. Down in Los Angeles, you're topping out at 73 degrees — a solid 50 degrees drop from Sunday's heat. South winds pick up to 10 miles an hour with gusts near 20. Tonight dips to 54 under partly cloudy skies. San Diego County wakes up mostly cloudy with a slight chance of showers near the southern border. That low pressure system spinning off Baja could sneak a sprinkle or two into the county this afternoon, but most of us stay dry. Highs reach 68 degrees with breezy south winds. Tonight falls to 53 under partly cloudy skies. Push inland to the Inland Empire and you're warming slightly to 75 degrees under sunny skies. Southwest winds gust to 25 miles an hour this afternoon. Tonight drops to 50 with partly cloudy conditions and continued breezy westerlies. For the week. Tuesday brings the coolest day of the next seven — marine layer clouds spread across the coast and valleys. Highs in the upper 60s to low 70s. Then Wednesday flips the script. High pressure builds over the Great Basin and offshore flow returns. Temperatures jump into the upper 70s to mid 80s. Thursday cranks the heat even higher — mid to upper 80s at the beaches, upper 80s to mid 90s inland. That's 50 degrees above normal, folks. Friday stays hot before a brief weekend cooldown. Perfect day for a walk if you head out before the winds pick up this afternoon. See you this afternoon.

  • Southern California Weather 3/8 Midday - 50° Above Normal
    Mar 8 2026
Good afternoon. Southern California. I'm Matt Mullins. Step outside and those Santa Ana winds are still punching through. Northeast gusts are hitting 30 miles an hour across Los Angeles, the Inland Empire. And down the San Diego coast. The Wind Advisory runs until 5 P.M. This afternoon for the mountains and inland valleys. But the real story today? The heat. Los Angeles climbs to 90 degrees this afternoon — that's 50 degrees above normal for early March. San Diego hits 86. The Inland Empire tops out at 85. A Heat Advisory is active until 6 P.M. For LA County's coastal zones and valleys. If you're outside today, stay hydrated and seek shade during peak afternoon hours. Tonight brings a dramatic flip. Winds calm after sunset. And a weak low pressure system off Baja California pushes clouds northward. San Diego County has a slight chance of light rain showers late tonight into Monday morning — most areas might see a few hundredths of an inch at best. Monday's cooler. That quick shift from offshore to onshore flow drops LA to 72 degrees. San Diego reaches 69. The Inland Empire settles at 76. Some morning marine layer clouds are possible along the coast. Tuesday stays mild with more clouds and a stronger sea breeze. Highs near 70 across LA and San Diego, 73 in the Inland Empire. Then the heat returns. High pressure builds Wednesday and anchors over us through the weekend. By Thursday and Friday. Here comes upper 80s to near 90 across the board. The Inland Empire could push 96 on Thursday — well above normal for mid-March. Dry conditions continue through at least next weekend. No rain in sight. If you're enjoying these daily updates, a quick rating goes a long way. See you this evening.

  • Southern California Weather 3/8 Morning - 50° Above Normal
    Mar 8 2026
Good morning. Southern California. I'm Michael Nally. If you're up early, you already feel it. Santa Ana winds are screaming through the mountains right now, gusting to 30 miles an hour. The Inland Empire and mountain passes take the brunt through early afternoon. These winds are doing what they do best: shoving hot, dry desert air straight to the coast. And that brings us to the heat. Los Angeles hits 90 degrees this afternoon. That's 50 degrees above normal for early March. San Diego reaches 86. The Inland Empire matches at 86. We're under a Heat Advisory until 6 P.M. Tonight for the LA basin and valleys. If you're running the marathon today, this matters. Drink water early and often. Take shade breaks. Your body will thank you. Tonight the winds shift and everything cools down. Lows drop to the mid 50s along the coast, around 50 inland. San Diego might catch a few light sprinkles late tonight into Monday morning, but we're talking minimal amounts. Monday flips the script hard. Onshore flow returns and temperatures crash 50 degrees across LA County. You'll hit low 70s. San Diego cools to 69. The Inland Empire reaches 75. Some morning clouds are possible at the coast. Tuesday stays cool — upper 60s to low 70s. The coolest day of the week. Then the heat roars back. Wednesday through Friday brings another warm stretch. Highs climb to upper 80s and low 90s inland, mid 70s at the coast. That's 50 degrees above normal again. Saturday cools slightly but stays warm. Enjoy the heat today if that's your thing. Tomorrow's swing will be dramatic. See you this afternoon.
