About this listen

Good morning. Southern California. I'm Michael Nally. If you're up early, you already feel it. Santa Ana winds are screaming through the mountains right now, gusting to 30 miles an hour. The Inland Empire and mountain passes take the brunt through early afternoon. These winds are doing what they do best: shoving hot, dry desert air straight to the coast. And that brings us to the heat. Los Angeles hits 90 degrees this afternoon. That's 50 degrees above normal for early March. San Diego reaches 86. The Inland Empire matches at 86. We're under a Heat Advisory until 6 P.M. Tonight for the LA basin and valleys. If you're running the marathon today, this matters. Drink water early and often. Take shade breaks. Your body will thank you. Tonight the winds shift and everything cools down. Lows drop to the mid 50s along the coast, around 50 inland. San Diego might catch a few light sprinkles late tonight into Monday morning, but we're talking minimal amounts. Monday flips the script hard. Onshore flow returns and temperatures crash 50 degrees across LA County. You'll hit low 70s. San Diego cools to 69. The Inland Empire reaches 75. Some morning clouds are possible at the coast. Tuesday stays cool — upper 60s to low 70s. The coolest day of the week. Then the heat roars back. Wednesday through Friday brings another warm stretch. Highs climb to upper 80s and low 90s inland, mid 70s at the coast. That's 50 degrees above normal again. Saturday cools slightly but stays warm. Enjoy the heat today if that's your thing. Tomorrow's swing will be dramatic. See you this afternoon.
