After winning a state football championship at PH in 2005 and also excelling on the baseball diamond, he played college baseball at Ohio University. He was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the second round of the 2009 MLB Draft and made his MLB debut with the Houston Astros in 2013. He also played for the Angels, Rays and Tigers.
