About this listen

As the end of August approaches and the pulse of the NHL has almost disappeared, Matt and Blake discuss the strong likelihood that Filip Chytil is the de facto 2nd line centre of the Canucks. The guys get into the risk and possible rewards there, and whether the Canucks really had any other options. They also look at the wild night that was at BC Place on Saturday as Thomas Müller made his starting debut as a Whitecap and scored the winner in the final seconds. The veteran media man John Shannon joins the guys to discuss his chat with Chytil last week and what stood out to him about the conversation, plus, whether the NHL's uneventful off season prevented the Canucks from making the centre move they wanted. Also, John weighs in on whether NHL team revenue needs the boost of a playoff "play-in". Then it's Transfermarkt's Manuel Veth, fresh off a visit to Munich, with the reaction there to Müller's move to Vancouver. Plus, Manuel looks at the performances to date, and what the 3 week break will mean for Vancouver's supporters shield aspirations. The guys wrap up the show with a busy weekend wrap up, looking at Brooke Henderson's big win, the PGA Tour Championship, the start of the US Open, and the BC Lions losing big in Toronto.
