Antonio Bagioli (1795-1871) fue un director de orquesta, cantante y maestro de Canto que pasó de la Scala de Milán a Nueva York como director de una compañía de ópera europea que actuaba por Estados Unidos para convertirse en "el" maestro de Canto en Nueva York. Vivió en casa de Lorenzo da Ponte y se casó con su hija adoptiva. Tuvo una hija, Teresa Bagioli, que casó con un militar que luego fue acusado de matar al amante de esta y que sería más tarde congresista de los EE.UU. Toda una historia que merece ser contada casi por Hollywood.
