  • S1E116 - Wicked Part One of Two (2024)
    Dec 16 2024

Have you ever wondered where the Wicked Witch of the West got her hat? Or how those Monkeys learned to fly? Or how many Sleeping Tulips it takes to get a Goat with Tenure fired? Or how that road in OZ got so yellow? Well I don't want to spoil it for you, but it ain't all the Munchkin Piss.

On this week's episode we're talking all things WICKED. And no, we don't mean the New-England-specific term of endearment. We mean the 2024 theatrical remake by John Chu of the 2003 Broadway adaptation by Winnie Holzman of the 1995 novel by Gregory Maguire which was a kind of re-imagining of the 1939 MGM studio movie which, in turn, was a re-telling of the 1900 L. Frank Baum novel The Wizard of Oz. Phew. What a mouthful. Someone get me an Elixir.

Anyway, we learned a lot from this movie. And the singing is pretty good too. Let's just hope we make it to November 2025 so we can potentially see a green woman fuck a scarecrow.

  • S1E115 - ALL THAT JAZZ
    Oct 28 2024

Have a smoke, take a shower, pop some Dexedrine and put on some movement clothes because this month we're covering Bob Fosse's ALL THAT JAZZ. Starring Roy Scheider, Jessica Lang, the Mayor from Ghostbusters and the Dad from Alf. I almost typed Elf, which would have been either Bob Newhart or James Caan. Those are the Dads from Elf. But we're not talking about ELF, we're talking ALL THAT JAZZ. A movie about a irredeemable man taking advantage of women and then dying, having learned nothing. Which I guess is most men right? HEYOOOOOOOO

  • S1E113 - American Movie
    Sep 2 2024

IT'S ALRIGHT! IT'S OKAY!! THERE'S A NEW EPISODE TO LISTEN TO!! JIAH TOLD ME SOOOOOOOOO! This month we're covering the 1999 cult classic documentary AMERICAN MOVIE. Brought to us by Chris Smith and Sarah Price, we follow the trials and tribulations of filmmaker Mark Borchardt as he desperately tries to finish his horror films NORTHWESTERN and COVEN.

This doc feels like it was filmed entirely in another dimension. The more time we spend in Milwaukee with Mark and his crew (especially his childhood friend Mike Schank) the more we bare witness to the never-ending struggle of being an artist and the toll it takes to fulfill an artistic vision. Which is something we definitely do NOT relate to. At all. Not in the slightest. Nope. No problems over here. Making art is EASY and FUN.
