    Jul 7 2025

A new season of All Things Being Sequel is here!

Each year, three brothers visit their grandfather for the summer. He is highly skilled in ninjutsu, and for years he has trained the boys in his techniques.

We’re starting the 3 Ninjas season here on All Things Being Sequel. Was Elliot wrong for picking this series? Probably. He was trying something here, keep that in mind with the next episode.

Elliot waxes nostalgic to no ones chagrin. Eric laughs about how even his young children find things to call out about this film. Elliot threatens with a Land Before Time season if no one gets on board.

Will nostalgia be enough to keep this season afloat? Doubtful. But come, stay for the slow but inevitable train wreck.

Lastly, as it is a new season I am going to take a second to drop the boys socials.

  • The Stuff
    Jun 23 2025

    Bonus episodes!

A delicious, mysterious goo that oozes from the earth is marketed as the newest dessert sensation, but the tasty treat rots more than teeth when zombie-like snackers who only want to consume more of the strange substance at any cost begin infesting the world.

This week, the boys are drooling with anticipation to talk about 1985’s hidden classic, The Stuff. It’s got a bit of everything in it, whipped up for us to enjoy. Eric opens the show with a completely different Larry Cohen and Michael Moriarty horror film, before we quickly get back to this masterpiece. Jeff explains why movies that aren’t traditionally great still hold a high regard in our fixation with them. Elliot attempts to warn listeners of a modern-day The Stuff that didn’t off the way the film’s fluffy treat does. Lastly, Eric accuses Jeff of enjoying sweet bagels.

  • It's Alive (2009)
    Jun 9 2025

A baby born to a human couple turns out to be a mutant monster with an appetite to kill when scared.

It the 2009 remake It’s Alive. Woof. Is it our first remake? Eric thinks it might be, Jeff believes there may have been one before, having not much else to talk about, he makes the argument. Elliot Casually mentions some time theft at his job, Eric feels unsure where to begin and starts right up with Wikipedia. Jeff brings up how this is a big pro-life film, and Elliot dreams of alternative takes on how he would have done this remake.

We talk about starting a new season in two weeks, but we have once again lied. We’ll be back in two weeks with another film by the great Larry Cohen, starring Michael Moriarty.

  • It's Alive III: Island of the Alive
    May 26 2025

The monster babies have been placed by court order on a deserted island so that they can live out their lives as far away from normal humans as possible without killing them. Enraged by the cynicism toward, and the exploitation of, the monster babies by both the legal system and the media, the man who is responsible for them leads an expedition to the island in order to free them.

It seems we may have come to the end of the It’s Alive franchise, this time with 1987’s It's Alive III: Island of the Alive.

This week, we begin with Eric doubting his hand-clap timing technique. He’s fine, it’s fine, everything is fine. Trust the process. Elliot opens up with a joke that just flies right over the head of my boy Jeff. And finally, Jeff reminds us that Eric and Elliot are the true a-holes of the pod, rightfully so.

Overall, I think we were a little surprised by just how great this final piece of the trilogy is. Go watch, come listen, hop on the bandwagon. And we’re not done! We’ll be back in two weeks with the remake of It’s Alive.

  • It Lives Again
    May 12 2025

An epidemic of monster babies sweeps across America.

Hidden gem? Just ok? The boys are back this week, talking about 1978’s It Lives Again, or It’s Alive two, depending on which box set you pick up to watch. Murder babies here, murder babies there, murder babies everywhere. Where do you fall in the argument of what to do with these genetic anomalies?

Lots of great talking points that are, at times, all over the place. Elliot calls for the rounding up of all future monster babies, Eric says chuck them down a pit, Jeff has us switch topics before matters get out of hand. Other discussed topics include swimming in a pool in the middle of the night, and how weird it is to do that when there is zero lighting by the pool. Jeff suggests a new movie, Frank, the Baby Saver; Eric brings up the terrible Paramount show Picard. Lastly, an attempt is made to completely derail everything by bringing up the recent John Cena heel turn, but hopefully, Jeff can stay strong and resist the urge.

And pigeon talk, complete with accurate pigeon impression.

I also love the mention of the Pope. I would like to emphasize that he was alive at the time of recording, and we wish nothing but the best for the new Pope Leo XIV.

  • It's Alive
    Apr 28 2025

The Davises are expecting a baby, which turns out to be a monster with a nasty habit of killing people whenever it is scared. And it is easily scared.

It’s a season of new beginnings here on All Things Being Sequel. This time we’re jumping into a new trilogy of films, starting with 1974’s It’s Alive.

First off, I know the audio isn’t loud enough. Usually, I (Elliot) am too quiet, but this week I’m a little too loud. My bad, corrupt files are to blame. But this is completely listenable. Will I get a text from Eric telling me so? Yes, and possibly rightfully so. Again, it’s on Elliot; blame him. Also, I apologize for my occasional heavy breathing.

We talk about our love for the use of bright red blood, throwing our children into a firing squad of cops, and how much hospital births have changed in the decades since It’s Alive’s initial release.

This week, we talk a lot about pictures, which are hard to describe. If you’re interested in seeing what we are talking about, including the creepy neighbor/friend we spoke about, you can follow this link to my BlueSky, where I have posted the pictures we spoke about, and we have a good laugh about them; it’s worth checking out. See them here.

And lastly, we have a new segment! Well, it’s an old segment that Eric has renamed for this season: unsubstantiated conjecture.

Overall, having already recorded all five movies in this season (that’s right, three movies into five episodes, just wait), this season is a really fun ride. Watch these movies, then join us to listen and laugh along.

  • Leprechaun Returns
    Apr 15 2025

The time has come. The end of our first era of All Things Being Sequel is here, and folks, we are going out with a bang. And there’s no way to celebrate then by introducing a new segment, Bold Statements. Listen to us gush over how unbelievable it is that Leprechaun Returns might be the best movie of the entire franchise.

We spent a large portion of the time today talking about Mark Holton’s return portrayal of Ozzie Jones. Oscar worthy. We also spend time debating if this is all just a case of Stockholm syndrome. Other highlights include drone attacks, pure gag violence, and despite really enjoying this final movie, it still has plenty of issues.

And lastly, thanks for taking this ride with us. If you’ve watched every film along with us, or just listen to us every other week, we appreciate it. We’ve had a blast making this and talking about the Leprechaun franchise, and we are really excited to see where we take this series moving forward. And a slight spoiler alert if I can, the next series is straight bonkers too.

  • Leprechaun: Origins
    Mar 31 2025

Not related to the previous Leprechaun films. Two young couples backpacking through Ireland discover that one of Ireland's most famous legends is a terrifying reality. We have arrived at 2014’s Leprechaun: Origins.

Looking back, I am surprised by how much I disliked this one. In hindsight, I don’t think it is the worst film we’ve watched. We diverge on old-school sci-fi shows like Stargate, Farscape, and Sea Quest- anything to get us not to talk about this terrible movie. We came to the conclusion that this movie is just out of touch with everything. As Jeff says, “a waste of time.”

Having said all that horrible stuff, the episode still sparks a good discussion. Watch this terrible movie, and then come bond over our mutual dislike of Leprechaun: Origins.

And trust me, watching this one will make the next one that much better, you’ll see.
