Season 2, Episode #69. Not Me, But You! Podcast. Update Alert on OXLC. I am selling all of my shares because the Board of Directors approved a 5 for 1 REVERSE stock split. While several companies engage in "reverse stock splits" every year, the reverse stock splits are NEVER good for investors.
This negative news is the perfect opportunity for me to point out that to be a successful dividend investor, you have to TRACK your investments and also be ready to ROTATE your money OUT of one investments and INTO something new. RISK happens fast! We have to be nimble and be ready to pivot when needed.
This is NOT something that SHOCKS me. It is just an unfortunate thing that happnes from time to time and as an investor, we just assess, and take action and then move on!
Historically, OXLC was a VERY reliable payer and it was also CONSISTENTLY good. But things change in life. Don't let this "wreck" you or cause you to stop investing. Just move on. Keep going. If the pathway to wealth was easy, then everyone would be wealthy!
I still like ETF's like MSTY, ULTY, SMCY and YBIT, YMAX. May ALL of these go to zero one day? Perhaps. But I don't invest in these high risk ETF's hoping they will behave like Coke stock or Apple stock. These ETF's are NOT designed to behave like Coke or Apple or Amazon or Micrsoft. But those "blue chip" companies like Apple do NOT pay a great dividend! ETF's that pay high yields of over 100% are designed to become "your personal ATM cash flowing machines." And THAT comes with significant risk. I utilize them anyway in spite of the risk. In part, becasue I ROTATE the dividend money into LESS risky investments.
Have courage today, to pick on thing, and work on your dreams. We will talk again soon!
I'm not a financial advisor. This podcast is for education/entertainment purposes only. You will need to do your own research and accept responsibility for the results of any money you choose to invest. I love using Schwab.com to buy/sell stocks/ETF's/closed end funds/options. Schwab has a very user friendly app/website and their customer service is excellent. I can easily get to speak to a human being whenever I have questions.
