The place was quaint, with wooden tables and chairs and a chalkboard menu hanging behind the counter. The menu listed a variety of items like scones, muffins, tea, and the ever-popular English breakfast.
Approaching the counter, I noticed an old lady collecting several pots of tea and cups of coffee. She seemed a bit overwhelmed. When I offered to help with the tray, she politely declined, saying she could manage but appreciated the kindness. Smiling, she moved carefully towards her table, and I turned to the counter to place my order.
The staff member greeted me cheerfully and asked what I would like. I responded with an order for a pot of tea and a toasted teacake.

Soon, the staff member arrived with a toasted teacake and a small pot of butter, wishing me to enjoy it. Spreading the butter on the hot teacake, I watched it melt into the soft bread. Taking out a book from my bag, I began to read, taking occasional sips of tea and bites of the delicious teacake.
Time passed quietly. When my tea and teacake were finished, I packed up my book and took my tray back to the counter, I knew it was their job to clear the tables but wanted to help. The staff member appreciated the gesture and wished me a good day. Feeling content, I stepped out of the café, ready to continue my day.
