Our 56th episode is for the tree huggers and environmentalists! This week we learn the story of Julia “Butterfly” Hill, who hiked 2 miles up a mountain and an additional 180 feet up a Redwood tree named Luna to save it from the Pacific Logging Company. She remained in Luna for a total of 738 days, withstanding inclement weather, and increasingly violent loggers. Eventually coming to an understanding with the logging company Butterfly was able to humanize herself and the environmentalist movement in the eyes of those meant to clear cut the forests for the profit of the 1%.
