今天，我們閱讀了列王紀下第7章全文。亞蘭入侵以色列，圍困首都撒瑪利亞。撒瑪利亞被亞蘭的軍隊包圍，一切食物的供應都被切斷，城裏人人因為饑餓面臨死亡。所以當時食物價格極高(列王紀下6:25)。即使以色列人平時不吃的野豆和驢頭售價也相當高。當時以色列普通工人4天的工資大約一塊銀幣。為了買一斤野豆，工人必須支付20天的工資，一個驢頭幾乎相當於他們全年的工資。這表明以色列人在當時的物資多麼匱乏。
