El Proyecto Lebensborn fue un programa creado en 1935 por Heinrich Himmler y las SS con el objetivo de aumentar la población “aria” en el Tercer Reich. Consistía en facilitar nacimientos de niños considerados “racialmente puros”, ya fuera mediante maternidades especiales para mujeres alemanas o mediante el secuestro y germanización de niños de territorios ocupados. Miles de menores fueron arrebatados de sus familias y criados como alemanes. Tras la guerra, muchos de estos niños enfrentaron rechazo, trauma e incertidumbre sobre su verdadera identidad.
