参孙等拿撒勒人是神甚至在他们出生之前特别预备的,准备向神献身。和这些拿撒勒人一样,为耶稣施洗的约翰也是作为一个人被出生在世上,这人甚至还没有在母亲,以利沙伯的子宫里怀孕之前就已经被神预备好了的。所以,当以利沙伯怀上施洗约翰时,一位天使说:“他在主面前将要为大,淡酒浓酒都不喝,从母腹里就被圣灵充满了”(路加福音1:15)。这段经文告诉我们,施洗约翰是神特别预备和拣选的人。
