今天的经文告诉我们，当以色列北国的国王亚哈的儿子亚哈谢在撒玛利亚即位时，他行了他父母罪恶的道路，即顺从耶罗波安让以色列人犯罪的道路，像他父那样激起了耶和华神的忿怒。亚哈谢继承父位统治以色列两年，后来摔死。这里的问题是:他在两年的统治期间到底做些什么？圣经上说，由于亚哈谢行了他父母的道路，顺从尼八的儿子耶罗波安的道路，让以色列百姓犯罪，还崇拜金牛犊，因此激起以色列主神的忿怒。以色列北囯的列王都顺从最早继位的国王耶罗波安，谁也不曾敬畏耶和华神，取悦他。因为这些列王都顺从了以色列北国的第一任国王尼八的儿子耶罗波安所犯的罪孽。
