今天的經文告訴我們，當以色列北國的國王亞哈的兒子亞哈謝在撒瑪利亞即位時，他行了他父母罪惡的道路，即順從耶羅波安讓以色列人犯罪的道路，像他父那樣激起了耶和華神的忿怒。亞哈謝繼承父位統治以色列兩年，後來摔死。這裏的問題是:他在兩年的統治期間到底做些什麼？聖經上說，由於亞哈謝行了他父母的道路，順從尼八的兒子耶羅波安的道路，讓以色列百姓犯罪，還崇拜金牛犢，因此激起以色列主神的忿怒。以色列北囯的列王都順從最早繼位的國王耶羅波安，誰也不曾敬畏耶和華神，取悅他。因為這些列王都順從了以色列北國的第一任國王尼八的兒子耶羅波安所犯的罪孽。
