De acordo com o Unicef, crianças com deficiência têm 47% mais chances de estar fora do Ensino Fundamental 1, enquanto 33%, fora do Ensino Fundamental 2.
Em julho de 2024 foi comemorado os 8 anos que a lei brasileira de inclusão da pessoa com deficiência foi aprovada. O acesso a educação também é um dos direitos assegurados pela lei.
