Marco sfodera una nuova arma, lo sciopero della fame, perché del problema si parli in televisione e nelle piazze, e porta dalla sua un intellettuale di spicco, Pier Paolo Pasolini. Intanto le militanti radicali, tra cui Adele Faccio e Emma Bonino, aprono dei centri di self-help per le donne, e vengono arrestate. Nel 1978, pur di evitare un referendum indetto dai radicali, viene finalmente approvata la legge 194, che ancora oggi disciplina l'interruzione della gravidanza.
