創世記解釋了神創造我們的目的。當建築師設計大樓或藝術家繪畫時，他們首先要在腦子裏構思如何完成那項工作，然後才真正開始工作。同樣，我們的神也在腦子裏有拯救我們人類的計畫，然後才創造天地，他在腦海裏帶著這個目的創造亞當和夏娃。神要向我們解釋憑我們肉眼看不見的天國，他把天國比作我們大家都能理解和明白的地球。
甚至在創世之前，神就希望把水和聖靈的福音賜給每個人，完美地拯救人類。所以雖然全人類都是用塵土創造的，他們必須瞭解和知道水和聖靈的福音真理，使他們的靈魂得益。如果人們繼續生活卻不知道天國，他們不但會失去地球上的東西，而且也會失去屬於天國的東西。
