About this listen

“Until a person can say deeply and honestly, "I am what I am today because of the choices I made yesterday," that person cannot say, "I choose otherwise.” - Stephen R. Covey

In this episode we deep dive the beginning of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey

LESSON 1: Paradigms & Principles
  • What we are communicates far more eloquently than anything we say or do.
  • The more aware we are of our paradigms and their influence, the more we can take responsibility for them.
  • The Way we see the Problem, is the Problem.

LESSON 2: 7 Habits Overview

  • The 7 Habits are a principle-centered, character-based, “inside-out” approach to personal and interpersonal effectiveness.
  • Habits are the intersection of knowledge, skill & desire.
  • The 3 assets in our life, Physical, Financial & Human, must be in balance by ensuring our production and production capacity are maintained.

LESSON 3: Habit #1 - Be Proactive

  • The behavior of Proactive people is a product of their own conscious choice, based on values, rather than a product of their conditions, based on feeling.
  • Do not wait for something to happen or someone to take care of you. Find solutions to your problems instead of being the problem.
  • Focus on your Circle of Influence rather than your Circle of Concern.
