About this listen

With London and Manchester marathons set to be heating up (20-23 temperatures forecast!) this could not be a more timely episode!

Grace is a mum of 2, soon to be 3, a doctor and a runner... and she shares her personal story of collapsing in the Docklands during her London Marathon back in 2016, what happened to her, what went wrong, what to avoid doing... and lessons learned.

She also really helpfully talks about coping in the aftermath and how it felt huge and devastating but now does not matter AT ALL, and brings an important perspective to putting health, happiness and just simply having a good time first.

If you're running in the heat this weekend:

  • BE CAREFUL not to vaseline over key areas you lose body heat from and sweat from as this can affect your core temperature
  • HYDRATE! Drink to thirst, don't be afraid to use hydration stations, perhaps carry a bit extra, take extra gels and/or fuel of choice incase you're on the course for longer than planned
  • Take electrolytes with you
  • Dress appropriately for the weather

And remember... put yourself and your health before a marathon time.

You've got this! It's going to be an INCREDIBLE day!
