Bšany, vesnička mezi chmelnicemi, jejíž jméno už dávno zmizelo z fotbalové mapy, se staly jeho druhým domovem. Zažil s nimi slavný parademarš ze třetí ligy až do nejvyšší soutěže, v Blšanech si s 38 nastřílenými góly udělal jméno jako nejlepší kanonýr ČFL, pomáhal jim postoupit do druhé ligy a poté i do první, v níž zase dával góly, které pomáhaly „Chmelařům“ k záchraně. Z Blšan ale Roman Hogen také odcházel, aby se do nich zase vracel. Z žižkovské Viktorky, ze Slavie, ale i z bundesligového Norimberku.
