Publisher's Summary

Book 5 of 5 in the Zombie Road Series. The beautiful saga about surviving the zombie apocalypse that David Simpson created continues. This book focuses on the relationship between Jessie, the disfigured road angel, and Scarlet, the daughter of the high priest of the Anubis cult. They are both damaged and young and have to bear a heavy burden for their age. Both have powers beyond human capacity. Both are the children and heirs to their fathers' legacies and empires, and they should be mortal enemies, not working together. They should be trying to kill each other, not trying to save what's left of the world.

Keep the story going - it is great

I was so glad to see Zombie Road V and am now waiting on the next book in the series, which I am sorry to say will probably be a few months. I love this series and was pleased to see what was happening with by favorite characters. The citizens of Lakota are thriving. They are trying to help other communities. The biggest problems they have are Casey the cannibal and his army and the Egyptian religious cult super charged army. Gunny, who helped establish Lakota, is President of the US. His son Jessie is the Road Angel and he has been trying to establish a trading route for Lakota. Jessie has hooked up with Scarlett, the daughter of the leader of the Eqyptian cult. They have saved each other's lives but still are figuring out whether or not they can trust one another since their groups are enemies.

Casey is trying to capture a Hopi Indian town on top of a mesa where Casey believes he can rule the new world. He is assisted by the former Secretary of State, an evil woman that I believe is based on Hillary Clinton. The Bullet Brigade children from Lakota have sneaked into a convoy leaving their town and are now at the amazing tower in Oregon where they are exploring their new environment. Jessie is worried about Scarlett who is not healing from her injuries as well as he would like. Gunny and Grizz have infiltrated Casey's army and plan to wreak chaos on them and kill Casey. In the end of the story we visit again with Hassiff and his family in Egypt. They are trying to escape and sail to the US, but I don't think that will be possible. They need to find a safe place in Egypt or Turkey.

So many good things to come in the next book but PLEASE don't kill off my favorite characters. It will be utterly too painful for me. Last note, the narrator is excellent. His pacing and tone are perfect and he gives life to the characters. Hooray for him.

One of the most intense and action-packed zombie apocalypse series out there

I read a lot of zombie apocalypse series. A lot of them are great. That being said this series is at the top. It is action-packed and an eTicket ride from beginning to end. For those of you who do not know what an sticker ride is, Back in the day when you went to Disneyland or Disney World all of the best rides you had to have what they called an E Ticket. Those were the best rides.
The zombie road series is an incredible cast of characters that could be picked out of anywhere in the civilized world. It is a group of every day people doing every day jobs that are thrust into the zombie apocalypse and must figure out a way to survive. Leaders are chosen, actions are made and the journey begins. The story is written with great detail to the mechanical aspects of all the vehicles, the military aspect of all the weapons and just very well researched terms used in the story. All of the characters could be your next-door neighbor, your brother, your sister whoever. Once you start reading it, you just dissolve into the world and live the book. You cannot find a more intense and emotional roller coaster ride than you’ll find in the series. You are missing out if you do not check out the Zombie Rd., Series.
Just a warning not everyone makes it. Some people you like will die some people you hate will die. Some people you like will live and unfortunately some people you hate Will live. The zombies are not the only thing that is evil and has risen from the depths of hell. If you want to dive into the imagination and leave today’s world behind for a few hours then you need to read the series. If you are listening to the audiobook it has one of the best narrators out there. The narrator is also an author so he gets it when he narrates books. He does the tones and inflections that makes each character come to life and he puts his heart and soul into narrating it. You will not be disappointed in the story the performance or overall. This is a five star book and you need to read it.

Another Fine Installment

This was a great book, many different character arcs and just enough trouble for the hero's to keep me listening.
Always looking forward to the next book.

Meh

Story goes nowhere. Bounces between groups of people going about their day surviving in post apocalypse but there's no story to follow along with. Add to this that the book just abruptly ends with no resolution to anything (not that there was anything to resolve) and it's just a ploy to buy the next book. Disappointed in this one.

Fantastic zombie read for the fan of the macabre!

I'm blown away by the combination of Jesse and Scarlet! I'm hoping they're not killed off so they can shut her father down!

What a fun apocalypse

Sure, more character development would be nice... but it’s really not necessary. This series is what a zombie series should be- action packed and a little nuts. I drive for work about 1000 miles a week, and I like a variety of fiction. James N Cook’s Surviving the Dead is the gold standard for this genre; but Zombie Road is the most over the top fun. Not a dull moment. Narration fits the tone perfectly.
