Publisher's Summary

The timeless guide to sales success has been revised to help you supercharge personal and team performance in a new economy.

"People make buying decisions emotionally and justify them logically." That shrewd insight from the first edition of this best-selling book has become a no-brainer among sales professionals. Now, the new edition of the classic work that has helped millions of sales professionals take their careers to new levels offers critical new insights, information, and tools for success in today's economy.

You Can't Teach a Kid to Ride a Bike at a Seminar, Second Edition retains David Sandler's classic, battle-tested advice on driving personal and organizational success by breaking the rules of conventional selling. And now Sandler Training's CEO, David Mattson, has revisited it to provide additional skills designed for today's highly competitive and more complex sales landscape. With this powerful guide, you'll learn how to:

  • Take the lead in the "buyer/seller dance"
  • Get the prospect to do most of the talking
  • Have a process for answering questions from prospects
  • Know when a prospect is shopping you...and what to do about it
  • Move the relationship forward without becoming an unpaid consultant
  • Master the seven steps of the "Sandler Submarine"
  • Use LinkedIn as a prospecting and qualifying tool
  • Establish an "up-front contract", or call road map, before your face-to-face meeting
  • Use online research to turn cold calls into warm calls

Sales professionals and teams that follow these principles - and others outlined in the book - will transform themselves from mediocre performers into selling superstars.

This new edition of You Can't Teach a Kid to Ride a Bike at a Seminar is a potent mixture of Sandler's timeless techniques and best practices from the most effective sales operation today.

awesome book. I've been given a 1 day seminar on the Sandler Techniques but this was good to reinforce them and give me more info and background.

Good but redundant

Overall this is a great book. The only negative I have would be that the material is redundant towards the end of the book.

Read this NOW! And then as often as possible.

I finally found this book after 5 years in sales. WOW! What an eye opener and a real paradigm shift. After 2 years of studying and practicing this book as well as other David Sandler training I can tell you that it has changed my career.
What I used to consider to be a decent month or year in terms of sales volume, I would now consider to be utter failure and unacceptable performance. This means that the bar has been raised significantly and I have the Sandler training to thank for helping me get to the next level.
This book is as close to a comprehensive guide to the sales process as I have ever seen. That is why it will take you several listens and probably several months to really begin seeing the impact of his system. Much of the material is related through funny sales stories that keep this engaging and memorable to listen to.
Thank you David Sandler and Dave Matsen for putting together what is still my favorite sales book after 8 years of reading new books weekly.
Buy and read this as soon as you are ready to find confidence and success.

Fastest way to kill a sale

The whole "find your prospects pain points to use their answers against them" type of sale makes me cringe. We live in a time where prospects have an infinite amount of resources available to them. This book assumes that the prospects isn't smart enough to know exactly what you're doing when you position your "leading" questions. Forcing prospects into corners is the fastest way to kill a sale. I'd recommend finding a book that is based on facts and data.

The Ultimate Sales Psychology System

This book begins with the Psychology of sales from both the prospect's perspective and the salesman's. It demonstrates what used to be effective in traditional sales systems and why it's now antiquated. Rooted in transactional analysis, we're introduced to a sales system that begins with building self esteem and ends with the complete anatomy of a successful sales system.

silver bullet

Exceptional. The best sales book ever written bar one, questioning the Sandler way. Massive thank you to the SSI guys such as Marcus Cauchi, Tom Mallens, Paul Lannigan and Roy Johnson for introducing me to this. Their ninja like application of the concepts is an inspiration for people passionate about selling the ethical way
