About this listen

Faced with his most disturbing case yet, Detective Superintendent Roy Grace tracks a serial killer in You Are Dead, by award winning crime author Peter James.

A series of young women – all beautiful, all with long brown hair – have been stalked and abducted. Each victim is found with a brand on their body, a marking that reads ‘U R Dead’. And some of their remains are from thirty years ago.

When Logan Somerville is taken while on the phone to her fiancé, Grace must find a lead, connect the cases and track down the killer before they can strike again . . .

Although the Roy Grace novels can be read in any order, You Are Dead is the eleventh thrilling title in the bestselling series. Enjoy more of the Brighton detective’s investigations with Love You Dead and Need You Dead.

Now a major ITV series, Grace, starring John Simm.

Critic Reviews

Peter James has penetrated the inner workings of police procedures, and the inner thoughts and attitudes of real detectives, as no English crime writer before him. His hero, Roy Grace, may not be the most lively cop, nor the most damaged by drink, weight or misery, but he's one of the most believable
Peter James is one of the best crime writers in the business (Karin Slaughter)
James just gets better and better and deserves the success he has achieved with this first-class series
Meticulous research gives his prose great authenticity . . . James manages to add enough surprises and drama that by the end you’re rooting for the police and really don’t know if they will finally get their men

Peter James at his best. Roy Grace is maturing brilliantly. And another gruesome killer in the plot. This one more intricate than in previous books. Loved listening to it but now sorry it's finished. Can't wait for the next one!

Another Great Roy Grace Read

Overall a clever, but exaggerated storyline. The ending was disappointing - Two major story lines unfinished. Narration was good but female characters' voices were unconvincing, stereotypical.

Mixed feelings .....

I do enjoy Peter James stories. And just adore Daniel Weyman what a delightful voice. Like honey.
But sometimes Peter James does overdo things. Still it’s fun to read. Great fun.

Wonderful Roy Grace

What does Daniel Weyman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Great narration, brings the characters to life.

Any additional comments?

Peter James books are always a joy to listen to. The plot is so well thought out without being over complicated. A relaxing read.

Well written plot as always.
