Not often you find a good fantasy with a voice to match the journey

Good book not amazing but not bad either. would recommend. the plot does seem a little force along, like it doesn't flow naturally. my only real issue is the fights are way too long. no lethality, it's all tripping, kicking, short grappling, and swing 'n' miss. the big end fight makes the bad guy seem so op that it's unrealistic for the main characters to keep up the fight for so long. it would be different if they were all in heavy armour and had the protection to make so many mistakes swinging at each other, but they're all in cloth/light leather. so I find it very hard to believe all those kicks, trips and tackles hit but no real damage attack seem to connect. if I was to tackle someone to the ground the first thing I'd do is stap with any of the multiple daggers mentioned on the leads person. listening to the fights sound more like a Rocky boxing match then a sword fight with swords that have seemingly the same lethality as lightsabers. with such a fight it would be one or two mistake and dead, not the keep getting back up shit. this can happen in a boxing match but not a sword fight. I found the fight a bit dumb and pointless, and just wanted it to finish.

I really liked Connor who was an impressive Warrior with a social conscience and the story got more interesting when Sophia and Murdoch joined the band however the voice acting for both of them was so irritating i couldn’t enjoy the new found group as much as i’d like. Murdoch sounded like a buffoon and his voice was too cartoonish and the actor was at best average with female voices. I like the performance for Connor and the narration but not for many of the other characters. Most of the men sounded like they were drunk or their mouths were stuffed with cotton wool.
It was too long and repetitive. How many times can the Wraith demand blood and mayhem? How many times can Connor have the same conversation with the Wraith?. The fight scenes were way too long and the descriptions so detailed that they lost all urgency and became boring.
