About this listen

When Shetland detective Jimmy Perez finds a body in a hut used by fishermen, it seems to be a straightforward case of suicide. He recognises the victim - a stranger with amnesia who had disrupted a local party the night before his death. Yet this is no desperate act of anguish but the work of a cold and calculating killer.

As Perez investigates, he finds himself mired in the hidden secrets of the small Biddista community. Then another body is found. Perez knows he must break the cycle before another death occurs. But this is a crazy time of year, when night blurs into day and nothing is quite as it seems....

I loved this book! There is so much more depth and information about the island life than one ever receives on television!
And whilst the gorgeous actor portraying Jimmie Peres in the series does a wonderful job, blond hair and blue eyes never sat right in my mind .... unless the hapless sailor was from Galacia!!
A well researched and presented story.
Carry on to greatness, Anne Cleeves! Your books are wonderful and truly enjoyable.

So much more enjoyable than condensed TV productio

I love the story and the characters. I was guessing until the end. Kenny Blyth is a brilliant reader. His voices for all the different accents was so good! And he does a good job of the women too.

Gripped from the first chapter
