Story
Roughy is the story of a footballer who lived the dream, the country boy who not only became an AFL star, but was a key player in a Hawthorn team that will be remembered as one of the greats of any era. Success didn't change him, which made him all the more relatable, as if in spirit he was still having a kick with the Leongatha Parrots and a beer with his mates at the local pub. When in 2015 a spot on his bottom lip was diagnosed as melanoma, we could relate to him all the more.

Story
From prison to premiership glory; this is Marlion Pickett’s extraordinary story. Marlion Pickett’s extraordinary story of redemption is a true fairy tale. The tale of a man who came back from the brink to triumph on Australian sport’s biggest stage, a long-held dream come true. What’s even more remarkable about Marlion’s journey is how this young, troubled Aboriginal kid from Western Australia ever got his chance in the first place. A story all too sadly familiar - about drugs, crime, violence and time spent in jail - but also about a life picked up piece by piece.

He is one of the most beloved athletes in history and one of the most gifted men ever to step onto a tennis court - but from early childhood Andre Agassi hated the game. Coaxed to swing a racket while still in the crib, forced to hit hundreds of balls a day while still in grade school, Agassi resented the constant pressure even as he drove himself to become a prodigy, an inner conflict that would define him. Now, in his beautiful, haunting autobiography, Agassi tells the story of a life framed by such conflicts.

Hugh van Cuylenburg was a primary school teacher volunteering in northern India when he had a life-changing realisation: despite the underprivileged community the children were from, they were remarkably positive. By contrast, back in Australia Hugh knew that all too many children struggled with depression, social anxieties and mental illness. His own little sister had been ravaged by anorexia nervosa. How was it that young people he knew at home, who had food, shelter, friends and a loving family, struggled with their mental health, while these kids seemed so contented and resilient?

In Banking Bad, Adele Ferguson traces the origins of the banking scandal to the early 1990s, when buckets of money began pouring into compulsory superannuation funds, set up by Labor Treasurer Paul Keating. Attracted by the increasing cash, banks devised corrupt and questionable practices to get their hands on funds, along with aggressive selling practices that ignored due diligence, trust and honesty.

But when the cab arrived, she’d already gone. She was never seen again. Four months later, on 9th June 1996, 23-year-old Jane Rimmer disappeared from the same area, her body later found in bushland south of Perth. When the body of a third young woman, 27-year-old Ciara Glennon, was found north of the city, having vanished from Claremont in August 1997, it was clear a serial killer was on the loose.

Bachar Houli is as accomplished an AFL footballer as they come. He's been part of two Richmond Premiership sides, he was an All-Australian in 2019, and with more than 200 games to his name he remains a key part of a champion team. Picked at number 42 in the 2006 National Draft by Essendon, Houli played 26 games for the Bombers before moving in 2011 to Tigerland, where rookie Coach Damien Hardwick was assembling the team that six years later would achieve the seemingly impossible and claim Richmond's 11th Premiership.

Life Changing

Editorial Reviews
AFL star Neale Daniher is not only an inspiration due to his incredible career in sports, having played with Essendon in the 1980s and coached for the Melbourne Football Club for many years after. He also continues to move audiences in his journey to find a cure for motor neurone disease, a neurodegenerative disorder that he was diagnosed with in 2013. His advocacy led to his being named the Victorian of the year in 2019, and since his diagnosis, he’s raised over $40 million toward research and treatment.
Narrated by David Tredinnick, this listen goes beyond the initial grim diagnosis. Tredinnick’s warm, sonorous voice is perfectly matched to this story, keeping you engaged through every heart-wrenching low and stirring high. As you listen, you’ll no doubt find yourself feeling connected to Daniher’s story and awed by his endless perseverance and determination.
Publisher's Summary
A wise man said, 'Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards. 'I understand the wisdom of this - right now, I don't have much 'forwards' left.
Neale Daniher sat down to pen a letter to the grandchildren he'll never get to know. And then he kept on writing.
In 2013, the AFL legend was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease - a cruel and incurable condition. He had a choice. He could spend his remaining time focused on himself, or he could seize the opportunity to make a better future for others.
Neale is no stranger to challenge. He grew up on a farm in remote New South Wales, the third of eleven children. He battled injury during his football career with Essendon, then jumped on the coaching rollercoaster, leading Melbourne for a decade. As general manager of football operations, he was part of the West Coast Eagles' cultural rebuild.
From the hard-won wisdom of life on the land and the love of his family, to the triumphs and gutting lows of elite football, Neale has learnt to make the most of the cards he's been dealt - to always live with purpose and to appreciate what he has.
True to form, Neale chose to stare down the disease he calls 'The Beast', and in 2014 he co-founded FightMND, an organisation that has since invested over $40 million into research and care initiatives. In 2015, he became the public face of the foundation's biggest fundraising event, The Big Freeze.
When All is Said & Done is a book of stories and wisdom from a man who has always held his beliefs to the Bunsen burner of life. Neale is unflinchingly honest, sharing a timely reminder that, even though life doesn't promise to be fair, we all have the power to choose how to make our time on this earth matter.

Loved this book! ❤️
My brother passed from MND on the 6th February this year 2019. I miss him so much. I wanted to read this book to maybe get an insight on how Neale was going with the beast (MND) and how my brother may have felt too. Tears was running down my checks in the later part of the book.

Amazing
I lost my dad almost 3 years ago. He had MND although it wasn’t what took his life it certainly made his chances of fighting a cancer diagnosis a lot harder. Listening to this book brought with it a lot of memories of dad and how we made the best of what time he had left. This book is a wonderful read/listen and your positive out look on life and it’s challenges were so inspirational to me. Honestly one of the best books I’ve ever read.

Neale's earnest character
Neale's earnest character reminds us to check our perspective in times of adversity, to push ourselves to be the best person we can be and to be of service to others through actions not just words. He has been significant in developing the careers and lives of many men, and is generously advocating to find a cure for Motor Neurone Disease sufferers in future generations despite coming to terms with his own mortality.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It was well written, and included a thoughtful letter to his grandchildren and list of his favourite songs. I appreciate his down to earth storytelling, philosophies on life and death, and his ability to own and work on his imperfections. He is so admirable, as is his outspoken love for his family, mates and footy.

Great life lessons
This author has the best narrator for the telling of the author's life. I loved all of the lessons incorporated into everyday, real life scanarios. I recommend for all ages.
There is something to he said for someone like the author to be humble enough to admit his learning opportunities along the way. While I know nothing about football as they know it in his neck of the woods, I heard the lessons.
I wish the author well in every sense of the word.
