About this listen

Would you be prepared to work for free? How would you like to bust your hump for a large corporation 60-plus hours a week without a wage or a single day off for the vague promise of some mysterious perks in the distant future?

You'd refuse point blank, wouldn't you? But what if the job in question was playing a state-of-the-art fantasy MMORPG game? And what if this was the only thing you're really good at? Especially considering that your in-game partner is someone really special to you - and this person already lives a virtual life?

Knowing all this, would you consider the mysterious future bonus worth your while?

A simple enough concept, but executed well. Very LitRPG, but without all the repetition of having every popup read to you. Playful and fun, focusing on character types that the heroes normally kick out the way. The NPC's feel real and at home; and the player characters, particularly the antagonists, with humans behind them, feel shallow; which I find quite fitting.

Simple, but fun.

I thoroughly enjoyed every passage, and I'm definitely hooked on the story. I hope the sequel lives up to expectations. Hopefully he starts levelling his herbalism though, tsk tsk. Great narration from Eric Summerer.

Very interesting

This is a great series! A little slow in parts but we’ll worth the listen

This is a fun, rollicking story that revolves around a regular gamer who's given a not-very-good character to test out by a video game company. Of course, he kicks ass, aided in no small part by his super smart sister. It's a fun take on the usual hero type with a great mix of online and occasional offline story.

The book isn't perfect - the love interests had me rolling my eyes, and there's a slightly disturbing r4pe sub-sub plot that I could have done without (it's literally like 2 paragraphs, where a girl tells the MC that their character occasionally gets abused 'but she's cool with it' and the videos make good money.

Even with these faults, this was still a highly enjoyable read. Perhaps not the finest in literature...think of it more like a six-pack of your favorite beer. Maybe not as classy as a fine wine, but so familiar and comforting that you're willing to forgive it's mistakes.

Just plain fun
