Publisher's Summary

Gabe wants Alec between the sheets...too bad Alec's undercover already....

Rich kid. Party boy. Gabe is tired of the labels. He's a smart guy, but ever since he got kicked out of grad school, people are only interested in his no-limit credit card and his pierced ears...and other places.

Tall, dark, and scowling Alec hates Vermont, with its artisanal-freaking-everything and its irritating people. To be fair, most people irritate Alec, including the FBI director who sent him here to investigate a smuggling scheme involving yoga mats.

When one of the cutest twinks Alec's ever seen takes an interest, Alec knows there's an ulterior motive. No one with multi-colored hair, piercings, and an ass like that would want boring, serious Alec. The kid must be up to no good. Either way, Alec can't blow his cover. If only he could keep his hands off of Gabe long enough to find out what he's up to....

Can they ignore their explosive chemistry long enough to foil a smuggling ring? Or will their budding relationship sink faster than a yacht full of contraband?

Contains mature themes.

Fun short read

Sweet. Loved the characters. It was a grumpy/sunshine pair, but the grump was a gentleman, and the sunshine had a backbone, which I adored. I also loved the little details that were added here and there to flesh out the story, but that weren't turned into 'a thing'.

I loved a lot of things about this!

One of Gabe Middleton’s favourite pastimes is checking out the books at Vino & Veritas. It doesn’t hurt that he gets to check out the smoulderingly broody guy who’s often in there too. Alec is undercover with the FBI and he’s trying to discover how drugs are being circulated locally. Using Gabe to get inside information on his family’s boating business starts off professional, but the lines quickly blur. Like most of the previous V&V releases, the tone is light, enjoyable, and good-natured and the low-to-medium angst is resolved reasonably quickly. I enjoyed the characters, their chemistry, and the undercover frisson. Alec is a pretty decent guy, just trying to do his job and hoping against hope he can salvage things once his real identity comes to light. Gabe’s rebellion and low self-esteem are more complicated. Despite, or maybe because of, his family’s thriving business and wealth, he’s used to people liking him for what he can give them and a lot of people, including his family, treat him badly. He hopes Alec is the exception. I liked the romantic suspense, I would have liked more about Gabe’s family post-denouement, and I wouldn’t minded a little more grovelling from Alec, but overall, this really hit the spot for me. Two audio narrator faves, Cooper North (as Gabe) and Tim Paige (as Alec) were icing on my cake!

Fun, Upbeat Story + Fab Narration!

What a joyous story. Alec and Gabe are two adorable MCs, ones I gelled with right from the outset. Great dual narration that rolled perfectly with the author’s just right for the story FBI investigation and supported the romance beating heart of two men who needed one another. This was just what I needed. *Happy sigh…

It's a yes from me.

Things I loved. Characters were older than teenagers. Age gap but not icky. Sex covers some non-traditional subjects that may also provide insight into how to approach them. Both MC work on their self esteem and are open to talking about issues without it becoming too soppy.

So good!

Found Paige spoke way too fast. Which would have been fine if North read at a similar pace as well but his narration was great - clear and well paced. So I had too settle for listening at 0.85 speed so North didn't get distorted too much but even then Paige seemed to be in a rush to get everything out.
Loved the story though, I have not read anything by Grayson that I haven't enjoyed.

Fact or fiction

This was an entertaining listen. Particularly enjoyed their first meeting in the park where Alex is paranoid and trying to work out if Gabe gifted him the books on crime and drug dealers because he is one, has worked out Alex is FBI and is goading him while Gabe is wondering if his random act of kindness to the good looking bookshop stranger has backfired and he’s now got a stalker-killer on his radar!

The conversation between both and the internal monologues of each as they dissected what each other said and made their own conclusions was very funny.

The rest of the story continued in a similar fast pace and reached its conclusion fairly quickly. Alex’s return book buying was a different declaration of love than we normally see which was nice. This was my first novel by this author but will look to see what else I’ve missed out on up to now.
