Good read, but some power lvl contradiction.

Another great addition to the series, however the power lvl of some attacks are in contradiction and a bit all over the place at times.

Terrible ending

The book was great but I really disliked the ending, it was pithy and try’s to exceed the story, a little disappointed

Another absolute knockout

Will Wight is a god among men. He is on his way to being the best author in fantasy. This series is seriously amazing and I don’t know how he does it. Absolutely everyone I know who has read this series finished the book in a single sitting! Oh what I wouldn’t give to forget the series and binge the whole thing again. A must read!

Was expecting more.

For how much the tournament was built up I thought that there would be more factions and stratergy with a dash of intrigue thrown in. Yet lindons shot was so lame. all it came down 2 was that the opponent was faster, better luck next time.... even the abad9n had to insert itself into his life because how lame that ending was.

The Biggest Flaw

The Biggest Flaw with these books, is how short each of them are. It's painful because the story and characters are so compelling, and each books feels like only a brief glimpse into their world. It leaves you ever so slightly disappointed, and ravenously wanting more.

Dear Will Wight... for Christmas I want...

I love the book and I really don't know what more I can say, so that you will understand that you really NEED this series in your life! And, Travis Baldree's narration. So since this is the first time that I can't just grab the next book (I binged the series all 7 books in basically a month), and since it's almost Christmas time I've decided to write out my Christmas list, but instead of addressing it to Santa, I'm addressing it to Will Wight (of course)!

Dear Will Wight... For Christmas, I request the following:

Please write faster! 😁 I want... no, I NEED to know what happens next!
I NEED to know what's going on in the valley with Ortho and Wei Shi Lindon's family!
I want more Eithan! What's Eithan's long game?
...Wait, what's that? Is Pride correct about Lindon and Mercy?
What about Northstryder... what's he up to!
See, my need are few, only 4 or 5 things if you count the "write faster" There are plenty of voids that I NEED you to fill in with your crafty writing! 😊
And please keep in mind I want the next book (Wintersteel), wrapped up with a bow and under my Christmas tree, or at least in time for my birthday at the end of January! No Slacking, Okay? 🤣

The author hates the main character

All throughout the books you've had a feeling that lindon just cant win no matter what he does. In ghostwater this problem was largely fine and it is still the best book in my opinion. But everytime the author gets your blood pumping he pours cold water waking you up. It is a absolutely horrible experience. I would not recommend reading this book and just stopping at Ghostwater or Underlord if you have already read it.

This was the worst book yet and i have absolutely no idea how the author is going to get me to read the next after that dumpsterfire of a finale.

Why doesnt he just let us have fun?

Lindon makes no sense

I don't feel the path of the black flame should just easily be shrugged off by everyone and there mom. It's supposed to be a OP destructive path but it seems like as long as the person has an enforcer technique or a a decent sheild then they'll be fine. And I feel like will needs to make it so Lindon wins more, he only ever wins if he has a big surprise or some traps, the only people he beats without any were in ghostwater. He loses to herein, he lost to jilong, he basically made himself lose to the other blackflame, he really hasn't ever won a 1 on 1 battle without using traps or other things more then twice. I like the series but this is the worst of the books.

I got the first book as a daily special and quickly purchased all the rest of the books and binge listened until complete. I love this series so much! I don’t usually listen to fantasy and prefer mysteries and thrillers but this series so so amazing!! I can’t wait for the next one.

Pace too fast for its own good

Travis Baldree is a master audiobook reader. This man deserves an award and should be seen as equals to Tim Gerard Reynolds and Michael Kramer. However, the book falls short in terms of content. I hope the next one makes up for the terrible way in which the plot moved in this book.

Otherwise good book marred by unsatisfying ending

So, my view on cliffhanger endings is that they must be accompanied by some actual resolution in the story you're telling. It's fine to leave a cliffhanger to the next book if the main thrust of the plot you've been following so far is taken care of, but we do not even get that with Uncrowned.

I'd have honestly rather waited another few months and have Will put a real ending on this one.

Ruined by being incomplete

If you want to end on a cliffhanger, then craft a cliff hanger between books. Don't stop at a nonsensical point, interrupting the story, just to turn a good chapter ending into a cliff hanger before the next installment...

Most of the books in this series have felt incomplete, but after the first two I knew what to expect and had accepted it. The book before this one felt like it should have at least continued on to the commencement of the tournament; so, when it didn't, it was annoying, but then there is this one, titled 'uncrowned,' and we don't even make it to the end of the round that decides who will be uncrowned, much less the end of the tournament!

I enjoyed it up until that point. At the end, though, I felt cheated again and this time it completely undid the enjoyment.

An emotional rollercoaster

You know the book is good when you feel the death of a character introduced 10 pages ago like the death of one of the main character. The writing is outstanding the book is amazing!

With that said this book should have been two books. There is way too much story for one book. Interesting things that I would have wanted to hear more about were missing.

Still an excellent book and deserves the 5*. Can't wait for the next.

a bit of 'nothing much happened here'

i'll say, I love this series to death, but this latest one felt strangely like a filler arc. linden was beaten relentlessly and it was more than a little frustrating frankly. the pay off after several beatings just wasn't there. most of the book felt like just obstacles that you had to wait out or wade through with no real sense of victory. but, if i'm not mistaken, it was written to set up the next chapter in the story, rather than be a fully realised story of it's own.
hopefully, northstrider will make the next one more interesting and cumbersome. that said, you shouldn't skip this one it has very important plot points. it just seemed a little scattered compared to prevoous books.
